Cinemania

Cinemania (Sinemanija) 2-9 November Sava Centre, Belgrade

Cinemania (Serbian: Sinemanija) is a film festival usually held in autumn, with the program covering works of cinematic art.

For the first time, held in the 1996, the Cinemania was created with the aim to offer the audience Hollywood hits from the past year at lower prices. The first Cinemania was highly visited and represented a nice milestone in a rather difficult period in Serbian history.

With a desire to attract as many people to cinema, to develop a whole culture around it at a time when the majority of Serbs rather download movie hits from the Internet, Cinemania maintained to this day a very enviable position on Serbian cultural events lists. Now, things are changing for the better because the number of cinema goers in Serbia has been on a rise in the past couple of years.

Cinemania is fun and not so serious event that allows you to experience a truly cinematic experience, with snacks and a last hit movie that you have wanted to see. After all, everyone must relax sometimes. Right?

According to Blic, this year, the Cinemania Film Week takes place from 2-9 November at Belgrade's Sava Centre, with 16 features scheduled to have their premiere screenings, together with two reprises of the best rated films. The annual event will be officially opened by Steven Spielberg's highly-anticipated movie, The Adventures of Tintin (screening of the film in Sava Centre will not be in 3D). The weekend is reserved for the screening of two children movies – The Smurfs and Cars 2.

In tandem with the Belgrade screenings, Cinemania will be illustrated in Novi Sad between 4 and 11 November, with films shown at the Arena Cineplex.
