Belgrade Music Festival – BEMUS is the oldest and the most prominent music festival in Serbia and one of the most remarkable classical music festivals in this parts of Europe.
Founded in 1969, it became a very crucial cultural event for Belgrade. International music event of music ensembles and soloists presenting themselves in classical and ethnic music, as well as with pieces of contemporary music production. BEMUS is always held in October in the halls of Sava centre, Dom Omladine, Foundation of Ilija M. Kolarac and other theatre houses in the town.
BEMUS has established its reputation by presenting the most attractive international programmes. Thanks to it, Belgrade hosted some of the most prominent ensembles and soloists of our time – Concertgebouw Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Orchestra RAI Torino, New York Philharmonic as well as Gidon Kremer & Kremerata Baltica, Camerata Salzburg, Il Giardino Armonico, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Peking Opera, Kronos Quartet, Béjart Ballet etc. Special attention has always been devoted to the promotion of local artists and their creativity so BEMUS opens its venues to young musicians who are ready to launch their professional careers. Equal attention is committed to exclusive contemporary music and stage productions (operas, ballets and multimedia projects) which often reach for alternative artistic achievements.

This year, 43rd Bemus, officially opens on 15th of November at the Sava Center with the joint concert of Paris Orchestral Ensemble (L’ensemble Orchestral de Paris) and a chamber choir Asentus. Bemus will be official closed on October 26th by the world famous pianist Boris Berezovsky, one of the Belgrade audience’s favorite musicians. Between the opening and closing night, during ten festival days, the audience could expects a versatile performance by local and foreign artists.
