Belmužijada (Belmuz Fest) is specific and unique event in Serbia, always held in early August and lasts three days.
The belmuz is a traditional dish of cheese and corn flour eaten in south-eastern Serbia for more than three centuries. The best prepared in Svrljig, a small town at the foot of Stara Planina mountain, 250 kilometers southeast of Belgrade.
Every August, Svrljig welcomes competition to choose the champion in the preparation of such delicacies and it is held since 2005. Certainly, the goal of this cultural and economical event is the presentation of the Svrljig municipality, with an emphasis on Svrljig lamb, cheese, hard cheese, sheep and belmuž-authentic product from this region.
