Better air quality in Belgrade thanks to the snow

Large amount of the snow recorded in the previous weeks, has contributed to the improvement of the air quality on the territory of Belgrade.

Measurements of the daily means concentrations of sulphur dioxide, black smoke and nitrogen dioxide are performed. All these data make the basis for air quality assessment, air pollution trends and assessment of exposure of population, materials and vegetation as well as warning of air pollution increment.

During the previous month higher daily values were noted which are mainly caused by the excessive heating. The normal temperature differences and fewer vehicles on the streets enormously affected the air quality in Belgrade.

Based on the daily air monitoring, performed by the City Institute of Public Health, now the air in Belgrade is much better quality then it used to be before the heavy snowfall.
